Favorite Point:

Potential Slab:

Weekend Update: This weekend was a good one.  All over New England some solid swell filled into everyone’s favorite nook or cranny.  My phone blew up with text messages about  overhead waves in Maine and double overhead barrels in Cape Cod.  Chest high wave filled into Easton Bay on Saturday morning.  My father and I took a  walk at dawn to one of our favorite points where the tide was not cooperating.  We spent the rest of the morning exploring The Ocean State’s jagged coastline.  The Old Man and I found a few slabs that could work in a larger swell.  Later in the day, he paddled out to his favorite reef and picked off a few choppy ones.  I left my camera at home and swam over the seaweed infested rock bottom.  On Saturday the swell dropped down to the waist range, later in the afternoon a school of bluefish pushed some mackerel by the house and I was unsuccessful in reaching the blues from shore.  Sunday morning was sunny and knee high.  As the day progressed, thick fog rolled into Easton Bay.  With visibility dropping, our family gave second beach a visit.  We drove down and were accompanied by thick fog and waist high surf.  As the clocks changed from four to five, the swell jumped to overhead, pounding the beach.  I went for a swim and watched my dad get a few on his twin fin 10’ “Haut.”  The Sunday swell left as quickly as it arrived and we packed up the car for the five minute ride home.  Not a bad weekend except for no surfing on my part.  Broken backs will do that to you, hopefully by the time snow is falling I will be back in the water!

Canon EOS Rebel T3i, 18mm: Man, I miss winter.  Looking back on it I came across some files tonight including this photo of Kieran O'Connor in his backyard setup.  I looked at a some footage of him from the 2012-2013 season and threw it together in Final Cut.  Look for a three session montage later this week featuring a 1930s twist!

Canon EOS Rebel T3i, 70mm: First swell on Aquidneck Island in a few weeks! It kills me be to be behind the lens when there's a decent swell, but if everything goes to plan I should be in the water by November, right when the Nor'easters start up!

Canon EOS Rebel T3i, 200mm: Some windswell filled through into second beach today. Nothing big but some knee high knockers will get the old man psyched.

Canon EOS Rebel T3i, 18mm: Aquidneck Island is my new summer home.

Pentax ME Super, 49mm: The moon came out last night as Tomas Hughes and I fished through the sunset until 10:00.  The crappie hit our rooster tails on every cast, making up for the meticulous mosquitos.

Pentax ME Super, 49mm: I am fortunate enough to have a father who keeps objects of value in our basement.  One day fishing through the camera box I found his old Pentax ME Super.  I was super exited with my finding and had my father show me how to set the shutter speed, aperture, and to my surprise the iso speed was actually the "speed" of film.  With a broken light meeter, I had to set everything manually, therefore I was not pleased with most of my images but this double exposure of my sister in the rain and fireworks shot off on the Fourth of July turned out alright.  With a stress fracture in my back from football I will be keeping myself busy with some 35mm photography.  More images to come.

Canon EOS Rebel T3i, 55mm: Another weekend on Cape Cod, another sunset, and another ocean.
